Things to remember!

Please label all items of clothing so things don't get lost. Each day don't forget to send in a water bottle and a coat to wear for playtime.

Swimming is on a Tuesday morning. Please remember to pack goggles and a swimming hat.

Forest School is on a Friday afternoon. For this we need clothes that are suitable for the weather. Hats, gloves and scarfs and lots of warm layers for the winter!

Reading books are to be brought in every day. Your child will bring home 2 books. One is a reading book that matches their assessed level, which is for them to read to you. The other is a reading for pleasure book that is from the Library. This is an ideal book to share at story time together as the children get to select these themselves.

Year 3 2025-2026

Welcome to Year 3! Our teacher is Miss Little and we are supported by Miss McGough. Stepping into KS2 isn't as scary as we thought it would be and we're already making super progress!

Please see below our weekly timetable, with a breakdown of which lessons we have when.

Autumn term 2025

The first half term can be a busy and time in school and we have started off with a bang! We have some engaging topics to get our teeth into and lots of learning is already happening in year 3.

English
We are looking at two different texts this half term. A magical story called Leon and the Place Between and the classic fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. We will be focusing on remembering our basic skills of full stops, capital letters and using imaginative vocabulary.
Maths
Place value is our starting point and become secure with hundreds, tens and ones as have a starting point for our maths learning. We will then delve into addition and subtraction with numbers up to 1000!
Science
Light is our science topic. We are looking closely at how important light is to see, the science behind how shadows are formed and how shadows change. We have lots of practical experiments ready to enjoy.
